Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site

Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Derwent Valley is very special, it’s where the lowlands meet the hills and crags of the Peak District, an area of valleys, hills, woodlands and more. This is where water power was first successfully used for textile production and marked a significant contribution to the Industrial Revolution. Explore Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mill, Cromford Canal, Jedediah Sturtt’s North Mill in Belper and the Belper River Gardens.
